Washio Ishii Bonsai Display Garden
In April of 2007, this new garden opened to display the Garden’s
wonderful Bonsai Collection. Mr. Ishii’s generosity has allowed the
Garden to create this setting for one of the best bonsai displays in the
area. The specimens are rotated throughout the season so that our
visitors can see the wonderful horticultural works of art we have at the
Garden. This beautiful display is located next to the Garden Railway.
The bonsai collection began with the donation of a collection of trees
from Mr. and Mrs. James Wattenbarger of Cookeville, Tennessee. Additional
donations have been received from members of the Living Art Bonsai Society,
including Roy McCorkle from Athens, John Mullins from Chattanooga, and
John Landers from Florence.
