Children's Programs

There are a variety of programs for children at the Garden, including individual and family classes, camps for children, and birthday parties.

Classes

Antarctic Animals, 4-6 year-olds.Saturday, Dec. 13, 9:30-11 a.m.
Penguins, killer whales, seals and more all make their home in the coldest place on Earth. We’ll play games, do some hands-on experiments and discover why Antarctica is a cool place to live.
Members $15, Non-members $17.
December Celebrations, 6-8 year-olds, Saturday, Dec, 20, 9-11:30 a.m.
December is filled with fantastic celebrations. We’ll take four of them - Las Posadas, Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa - and make a cool book for your kids to bring home. In the book will be facts, fun, recipes and activities. This is a labor intensive class. Children must know how to use scissors and a glue stick.

It's ‘EGG’citing, 4-6 year-olds, Saturday, Jan. 10, 9:30-11 a.m.
Chickens aren’t the only things that hatch from eggs! In this action packed class we’ll do experiments, math activities and art projects that explore the world of the incredible - not always edible - egg.
Members $14, Non-members $16.
Chinese New Year, 5-8 year-olds, Saturday, Jan. 24, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
It’s the Year of the Ox and we’ll be celebrating its start with your young ones. We’ll be doing activities and projects that bring a little of this Far-Eastern holiday to our Southern homes.

The Deep Dark Secrets of Dogs!, 5-7 year-olds, Saturday, Feb. 7, 9:30-11 a.m.
Discover how dogs see and hear the world in this fun, hands-on class about our four-legged friends. Learn how dogs communicate, why humans & dogs fit so well together, & experiment with canine physiology.
Members $14, Non-members $16.
The Science of Mardi Gras!, 6-8 year-olds, Saturday, Feb. 21, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Crawfish, beads and masks - how can there be any science in these things? Sign up for this interactive class and find out. Examine the anatomy of a crawfish, plot the trajectory of thrown beads and create a mask of symmetry.
Members: $18, Non-Members: $20.

Camps

Spring Forward, grades 1-3, March 16-20, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Rainy one day, sunny the next, it must be spring! Sign your kids up for our camp that will help explain why the weather is wacky this time of year. We’ll hunt for tadpoles, create garden projects, figure out daylight savings time and more!
Members $170, Non-members $190.
